The Office of the City Prosecutor of Taguig has dismissed the complaints of illegal detention and grave coercion against Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and several city officials in relation to the closure of the Makati Park and Garden in March 2024.
In a 14-page resolution issued on August 2, the prosecutor stated they found no sufficient evidence against the accused, therefore, the complaints against Mayor Cayetano, City Administrator Jose Luis Montales, Business Permits and Licensing Office Head Maria Theresa Veloso, Traffic Management Office Head Danny Cañaveral, and other unidentified individuals were dismissed.
The complaint was lodged in the court by Salvador C. Palisa, Ryalyn B. Almazar, Joven P. Mediavillo, and Salvador Mercado, employees of the Makati City Government, regarding the incident at the Makati Park and Garden and the Makati Aqua Sports Arena (MASA) from March 1 to 3, 2024, where they were allegedly detained at the said place when it was shut down by the Taguig City Government due to a lack of operating permits from the city government of Taguig.
Upon review of the complaint by the Office of the City Prosecutor, it was stated that the allegations of the complainants were not proven to have a crime committed.
