The Philippines plays host to a competition of intellect amongst youths from 14 countries in the Asia Pacific region at the ongoing International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) which commenced yesterday, July 31, 2024, and will conclude on August 7, 2024.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) announced from its office in Bicutan, Taguig City, that the inaugural INSO is a platform for exemplary secondary students from the Asia Pacific where they will compete in theoretical and practical examinations to test their knowledge in nuclear science.

The competition is currently being held at the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) in New Clark Center, Capas, Tarlac.
It is led by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), DOST-National Research Council of the Philippines, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Aside from the Philippines, countries participating in the competition include Bahrain, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.
