More than ₱800,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, was confiscated from a senior high school student in a buy-bust operation conducted on Bagong Kalsada Street, Barangay Ususan, Taguig City on the evening of September 12, 2024.
The 20-year-old, only identified by the alias Alexis, has long been under police surveillance due to involvement in illegal drug sales and is listed as a high-value individual, or HVI.
According to operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Taguig City Police Station, they confiscated from Alexis during the operation around 9:20 PM on Thursday, 126.2 grams of shabu estimated to be worth ₱858,160.00. Also seized were buy-bust money amounting to ₱1,000 in real bills on top of ₱29,000 worth of boodle money, a plastic bag, and a cellular phone.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of the Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The confiscated illegal drugs have been sent to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.
