The Southern Police District (SPD) announced from their office on Lawton Avenue, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City that they have apprehended three individuals in Muntinlupa City in relation to a 'pawn-fraud' scheme worth ₱10 million on September 10, 2024.

The SPD Special Operations Unit (DSOU) arrested the trio identified as alias Alec, 28, alias Christina, 48, and alias Daniel, 36, a disgraced former police officer, at a restaurant in Poblacion, Muntinlupa City around 3:00 PM on Tuesday.

Several complainants were persuaded to pawn a property and house in Sucat, Muntinlupa City. The suspects promised their victims significant returns through notarized contracts to give the transaction a veneer of legality.

The authorities seized a genuine ₱1,000 bill on top of 'boddle money' used for payment to the suspects, three original contracts for land sale, two acknowledgment receipts worth ₱500,000, IDs, mobile phones, and a gray Mitsubishi Expander registered to alias Christina.

They also recovered a Glock Pistol .9mm with serial number AFPC307 in the possession of alias Daniel.

One of the suspects, alias Alec, had previously been imprisoned under the Bouncing Check Law or Batas Pambansa 22 by the verdict of Valenzuela Municipal Trial Court Branch 101, and was ordered to pay a fine of ₱400,000.00 and ₱1,000,000 as civil liability.

Victims of the suspects have gone to the SPD-DSOU office in Taguig City, preparing to file additional charges of large-scale syndicated fraud against the suspects.
