Vehicles must now have Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) stickers installed, or they must be installed at CAVITEX stations if the vehicle doesn't have an RFID yet and the driver wishes to use the expressway.

Upon completion of the trial run, motorists without RFID stickers or with non-functional RFIDs entering the expressway will be fined P1,000 for the first violation, P2,000 for the second, and P5,000 for subsequent violations.

However, if a vehicle does have an RFID but the balance is insufficient, the motorist will be fined P500 for the first violation, P1,000 for the second violation, and P2,500 for further violations.

Some commuters complained, saying that they don't always use Cavitex and it's a waste when their money gets tied up in the RFID load. They want Cavitex to maintain their cash lanes for occasional users of the road.

Before this, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista extended the final implementation of cashless tollways or the use of RFIDs on expressways and the imposition of fines on violators to October 1, 2024.
