The tropical depression known as Gener is currently over the waters of Palanan, Isabela, maintaining wind strength of 55 kilometers per hour near its center with gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

Typhoon Gener is presently moving westward at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

Signal Number 1 is raised over the following areas.
• Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija,
• northern part of Bulacan (Doña Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, San Ildefonso, Baliuag, San Rafael), northern part of Pampanga (Porac, Angeles City, Magalang, Arayat, Mabalacat City, Floridablanca, Santa Rita, Guagua, Bacolor, City of San Fernando, Mexico, Santa Ana, Candaba, San Luis, San Simon, Santo Tomas, Apalit, Minalin), Aurora
• and northern part of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real) including Polillo Islands

Typhoon Gener and the monsoon, further intensified by another typhoon named Pulasan, will bring heavy rain across the country.

On September 17, heavy rainfall is expected in Batanes, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.

On September 18, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao will experience rain.

Come Thursday, September 19, rain will affect Isabela, Aurora, Pagasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Caraga.

Gener is expected to hit land early Tuesday morning and may leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday. It is likely to cross over mainland Luzon.

Meanwhile, outside the PAR, another typhoon with the international name "Pulasan" is expected to enter the PAR today and leave the country by Wednesday. Upon entering the PAR, it will be given the name Helen.

While it will not directly affect any part of the country, it will intensify the monsoon.
