Three individuals were injured and fifteen families left homeless after a fire broke out at Gate 3, Zone 3 Santo Niño Street Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City yesterday morning, April 23, 2024.

According to the responding firefighters of the Taguig City Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (TCDRRMO)/Taguig Rescue, headed by Officer-in-Charge Erwin Niño Palima, 11 houses inhabited by a total of 61 people were destroyed by the fire in Blocks 1 and 2 of Zone 3 Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The three individuals injured in the fire, complaining of dizziness and feelings of nausea, were identified as Agustina Mirapeles, a 58-year-old resident of Block 1 Zone 3, Barangay Fort Bonifacio; Althea Arao, a 16-year-old from Zone 2, Barangay Fort Bonifacio; and Kenji Capuyon Garcia, a 30-year-old from 214 Poblacion East.

The Bureau of Fire Protection - Taguig raised the first fire alarm at 10:57 AM. This was elevated to a second alarm just nine minutes later and reached a third alarm around 11:11 AM.

The fire was only brought under control by 12:39 PM and completely extinguished by 12:54 PM, according to TCDRRMO Team 3 Leader Romar Cruz.

The victims of the fire were temporarily sheltered at Gat Andres Bonifacio Elementary School in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, and immediate assistance was provided by the local government of Taguig.

The possible cause of the fire is still under investigation.
