A new champion was crowned in the Regatta in Taguig, or the boat race, held in Barangay Bambang, Taguig City yesterday, July 24, 2026.
Kicking off the Taguig River Festival as part of the Feast of St. Anne celebrations, 12 barangays competed in a thrilling boat race on the river.
Bagumbayan Barangay emerged as the victors, bagging a cash prize of ₱25,000.
Last year's champion, Barangay Napindan, respectfully placed as the 1st runner-up, receiving a ₱15,000 prize.
Barangay Sta. Ana secured the position of the second runner-up, winning a ₱10,000 prize.
"In a city where rivers and lakes play a significant part in our history and livelihood, boat racing is an esteemed part of our culture, celebrating our identity as Taguigeños," said Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano in her social media post.
The Philippine Coast Guard, the Philippine National Police-Taguig, Bureau of Fire Protection-Taguig, Lake and River Management Office (LRMO), and other city departments also collaborated with the Taguig City Government to ensure a safe and enjoyable Regatta 2026.
