The suspects, identified as Erwin Angeles and Richard Mendoza, were arrested at their hideout on Masipag Street, Pulong Kendi, Barangay Santa Ana, Taguig City, along with the confiscation of a .38 caliber gun loaded with five bullets.

The Chinese national, Honsen Liu, 19 years old, had met someone online who he chatted with under the nickname "Izzy." The two agreed to meet at a restaurant in Barangay Tuktukan, where "Izzy" then took Liu to his apartment in Barangay Santa Ana.

However, what awaited Liu there were the two male suspects.

The teenager was beaten, blindfolded, and bound by the suspects. The kidnappers then sent a message to the victim's father via the messaging app WeChat, demanding a ransom of P5 million for the victim's freedom.

Both parties eventually agreed on a ransom of P1.1 million. The suspects instructed the victim's father to drop the ransom money in a mall in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

After receiving the ransom money, the suspects dropped the teenage Chinese national off in a location in Angono, Rizal, in addition to returning his mobile phone.

The victim managed to return home in Manila and sought assistance from the Manila Police District, who then referred the case to the Taguig City Police.

An operation was planned by the Taguig City Police and PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group, during which the suspects were arrested.

Currently, the suspects Angeles and Mendoza are incarcerated in the Taguig City Police Station while charges of kidnapping for ransom are being prepared.
