The unseeded duo of Eala and Jovic faced a tough first set before rallying in the second set to secure the win in one hour and 29 minutes.
The 45-year-old Williams is a winner of 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, and her partner Svitolina has two career doubles crowns to her name.
With this victory, Eala and Jovic will face either the top seeds Asia Muhammad and Erin Routliffe, or Jesika Malekova and Renata Zarazua.
Before this match, Eala will square off against two-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist Donna Vekic in the singles opening round tomorrow, January 6, 2026, in the afternoon.
