Drivers of public transportation vehicles will also receive ₱5,000 cash relief assistance next week, following the support provided to tricycle drivers.
According to the Department of Social Welfare and Development - National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR), drivers of transport network vehicle services (TNVS), jeepneys, delivery riders, and motorcycle taxis will receive financial aid according to the following schedule:
* March 24 (Tuesday): TNVS
* March 25 (Wednesday): Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs)
* March 26 and 27 (Thursday-Friday): Delivery riders
* March 28 (Saturday): Motorcycle taxis
DSWD-NCR stated that the local government units covering these drivers will announce the locations for the distribution of the ₱5,000 cash assistance.
Last week, this was conducted in Taguig City at the Lakeshore Activity Center, Gate 3, C6 Road, Barangay Lower Bicutan, for the tricycle drivers.
The cash assistance is expected to aid around 396,352 public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers in Metro Manila, alleviating their expenses in light of the rising gasoline prices due to the war in the Middle East.
The cash assistance for public transport drivers outside Metro Manila will be conducted after the Holy Week, according to the DSWD.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also said that the government will provide fuel subsidies to all PUV beneficiaries by the end of March.
