Between five to seven men reportedly residents of Block 1, Sitio Pusawan, and three company guards were injured during a tension-filled incident in the said Sitio in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City yesterday at 1:49, June 23, 2026.
In an interview with Taguig.com, the Public Information Officer of Taguig City Police, Capt. Melvin Garcia, stated that the tension began when several men attempted to bring in materials and supposedly construct a house on the contested land in Sitio Pusawan.
"The guards who were on roving duty reprimanded them and told them that they can't build a house there. A verbal exchange ensued, followed by physical violence," according to Garcia, who is one of the investigating officers.
According to Garcia and based on the official report from the Taguig City Police, a male resident allegedly tried to seize a shotgun from a guard, causing chaos.
A resident told Taguig.com that the incident occurred because they heard a gun being cocked.
As a result, two of the guards reportedly fired warning shots.
"However, pellets from the shotgun reportedly ricocheted and struck the above-mentioned individuals, causing injuries," according to the report from Taguig City Police Substation 4, which responded to the incident.
Eight injured individuals were brought to Taguig Pateros District Hospital while two other residents hit by shrapnels were treated on the spot and did not seek further hospital care, according to the responding rescue team, who were also interviewed by Taguig.com.
After being treated at Taguig Pateros District Hospital, the three guards from Theos Helios Security Agency and five men from Sitio Pusawan went straight to the police precinct, stated Garcia.
They are now facing charges of physical injuries, attempted homicide, and attempted robbery.
Eleven shotguns, one revolver, and one pistol wielded by the guards were temporarily confiscated while the investigation is ongoing.
Garcia stated that the land in Sitio Pusawan has long been a subject of dispute between the Waterlily Neighborhood Association, Inc. and DMCI Corporation.
He added that there is a status quo order issued by the Sangguniang Barangay of Ususan in the area to prevent further major misunderstandings between the two parties.
Due to this, no construction of any structures is allowed from either side in the said area.
