"This is contrary to what the Youth for Palestine-Makati alleges, that Yu was illegally arrested by BGC Police for taking photos of a road blockage and police presence," said Police Col. Christopher Olazo, acting chief of the Taguig City Police.

Based on the police report, Yu allegedly punched diplomat security officer Rodolfo Osorio Jr. in the stomach after being told that taking photos of the Israeli embassy was prohibited.

When Osorio called for police assistance, Yu allegedly became more irate and began cursing, alarming bystanders in the area.

Anak Bayan-Taguig, however, disputed this and claimed that it was Osorio who punched Yu, whom they described as a peaceful person and an animal rights activist.

"We call on Taguig PNP and its Acting Chief of Police PCol. Christopher Olazo to stop the spread of misinformation that there is no police violence," read a statement from Anak Bayan-Taguig.

"We are calling on the office of our Mayor Lani Cayetano to respond to this issue. We hope this shows respect for the people's right to protest and upholds human rights," the group added.

The Taguig City Police arrested Yu for causing alarm and scandal and for assaulting Osorio.

"There is no basis for the group's claims that the police actions constituted brutality and violence, as the police were merely attempting to pacify the situation. It was the suspect who continued to create a scene in the area despite the police's calm approach," added Olazo in a public statement.

"We remind everyone that the police's primary concern is to serve and protect the public. We are non-partisan and are not influenced by any group or organization. Our sole aim is to perform our duty diligently," Olazo concluded.

Yu is currently reported to be at Camp Bagong Diwa.
