Metro Manila and 40 provinces have been placed under Signal Number 1 due to the severe tropical storm, Opong. Meanwhile, 9 areas in the country are now under Signal Number 2.
As of 8:00 AM this morning, September 25, 2025, PAGASA reported that Opong was located approximately 365 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. The storm has sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kilometers per hour.
The storm is moving at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour, and its wind diameter extends up to 450 kilometers from the center.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2 has been raised over the following areas:

3. Albay
4. Sorsogon
5. Eastern part of Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands
6. Northern Samar

Opong is expected to continue moving west-northwest towards Eastern Visayas and Southern Luzon. It may pass near Northern Samar or make landfall in the Bicol Region by tomorrow, September 26. It is expected to cross over Southern Luzon by tomorrow as well.
Opong is predicted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday afternoon or evening, September 27.
