Two hundred aspiring athletes dreaming of becoming professional baseball players participated in the free Anthony Volpe Baseball ProCamp 2026 at the Felino Marcelino Sr. Baseball Stadium in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City on December 30, 2025.
Prominent New York Yankees Player Anthony Volpe personally trained and provided tips to the young attendees at the baseball camp organized by Taguig City, with the assistance of his relatives in the Philippines.
The 24-year-old Yankees player has Filipino heritage through his mother.
Volpe was in the country to attend a wedding. What was supposed to be a personal trip became an opportunity to conduct a free baseball camp for young Filipinos dreaming of becoming baseball players.
"My godmothers helped a lot, but it's definitely special to do something like this. We're already talking about doing this as much as we can," Volpe stated.
"Programs like this show how important it is to build community support in developing character, create opportunities, and inspire young Taguigeños to dream bigger, both in athletics and in life," Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano stated on her social media page.
Volpe will remain in the country until January 7, 2026, and then return to New York City to prepare for the Major League Baseball season that begins in March.
