PhilHealth members can now receive up to ₱20,000 worth of medicines for free annually under the PhilHealth-GAMOT program, available for outpatients.
As of today, Thursday, August 21, 2025, members of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) can start availing 75 types of free medicines at PhilHealth-accredited facilities through the Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) program.
Under PhilHealth Circular No. 2025-0013, the free medicines cover various conditions, including infections, asthma, nervous system disorders, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and other heart conditions.
(See list below)
Meanwhile, here is a list of the accredited PhilHealth GAMOT facilities where you can obtain free medication:
During the launch of PhilHealth's GAMOT program this Thursday, PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Edwin Mercado stated that this initiative was part of the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program, designed to keep every Filipino healthy, also known as the YAKAP program.
According to Mercado, "Based on our data, one of the significant out-of-pocket expenses for our fellow citizens is on medical goods. These include medicines and other necessities required upon discharge from the hospital."
Initially, only 21 medicines were free under the Konsultasyong Sulit Tama or Konsulta benefits package. This has now been supplemented with 54 additional medicines.
To avail of the new GAMOT package, one must first register as a beneficiary of the PhilHealth YAKAP program.
Registration can be done using the eGovPH app, or by visiting the PhilHealth member online portal. It can also be done at any PhilHealth offices, or through other channels.
Beneficiaries need a prescription from a YAKAP or PhilHealth-accredited doctor to avail of the free medicines at a GAMOT facility.
They will need to present a government-issued ID along with the doctor's prescription at the medicine dispensary.
There are also 4,300 GAMOT partner clinics where PhilHealth members can avail this new benefit.
