This decision is a consequence of the levying of taxes, or suspension of the duty-free de minimis exemption, and the new customs requirements of the United States.

Currently, aside from the Philippines, 25 countries have decided to suspend package deliveries to the United States due to these new taxes.

All small packages entering the United States will be taxed starting August 29, 2025.

Countries whose postal services will no longer accept small packages for the US include France, Britain, Germany, Italy, India, Australia, and Japan.

The United Nations Universal Postal Union stated that the suspension of acceptance of small packages to the US will continue until there is clarity from US authorities regarding the implementation of their new announcement.

With the new US directive on postal packages, postal services from various countries will need to start levying taxes if they are to send packages to the US.
