The Taguig City Government also clarified that those who have paid their Real Property Tax (RPT) for the Tax Year 2026 before or on December 30, 2025, and were given a 20% discount due to their advance payment under Ordinance No. 100, Series of 2005, but fell short in payment due to the adjusted tax rates effective this 2026, will still receive a 20% discount on their balance, but it must be paid in full on or before March 31, 2026.

This is the first time that the Taguig City Government has increased real property tax since 1993.

The ordinance states, "in 1990, there were only 266,637 registered Taguigeños; however, as of 2024, the population of the City of Taguig has grown to approximately 1,308,085 residents; and this rapid and sustained increase in population has significantly heightened the City's responsibility to deliver essential public services, programs, and infrastructure to meet the needs of its constituents."

The Taguig City Government stated that the additional revenue from the real property tax would be used for new programs and projects that will expand, improve, and maintain current projects such as public hospitals and health facilities, development of medical assistance programs, expansion of educational aid, improvement of public safety and traffic management, and disaster preparedness.
