"Is the constitution just a piece of paper to this administration? Do the 12 Senators think that as long as they ally themselves with Malacañang, there's no more law?"

Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano has explained events that took place earlier, which he says were incorrect because they did not reach a majority or 13 votes.

"Is the constitution just a piece of paper to this administration? Do the 12 Senators think that as long as they ally themselves with Malacañang, there's no more law?"

Cayetano insisted that he remains the Senate President of the Philippines.

This afternoon, June 3, 2026, the "new majority" elected Senator Sherwin Gatchalian as Senate President Pro Tempore.

They also replaced the committee heads along with the Senate Secretary and the Senate Sergeant at Arms.

Gatchalian also declared the Senate session adjourned sine die.
