Super Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 3:00 AM today, July 8, 2026.

Although it will not make direct landfall in the country, the wind and rain it carries will greatly affect the northern part of Luzon. It will also intensify the southwest monsoon or habagat.

The eye of Super Typhoon Inday was spotted at 4:00 AM today, 1,405 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

Its wind speed is 185 kilometers per hour near the center with gusts of 230 kilometers per hour, and it's moving at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.

The storm's breadth extends up to 900 kilometers.

Super Typhoon Inday will maintain its strength until tomorrow, July 9, and will downgrade to a typhoon by tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Wind Signal Number 1 is up in Batanes, Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, northern and central Isabela (Santo Tomas, Aurora, Santa Maria, Quezon, San Mariano, Naguilian, Dinapigue, Roxas, Luna, Delfin Albano, City of Cauayan, San Pablo, Ilagan City, Benito Soliven, Tumauini, Cabagan, Reina Mercedes, San Manuel, Palanan, Cabatuan, Quirino, Divilacan, Gamu, Mallig, Maconacon, Burgos, San Guillermo, Angadanan, Alicia, San Mateo), Apayao, and in the eastern part of Kalinga (Pinukpuk, City of Tabuk, Rizal), northern Aurora (Dilasag), and in the northern and central parts of Catanduanes (Pandan, Caramoran, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga, Gigmoto, Baras, San Miguel)

Super Typhoon Inday is expected to be closest to the peak of Northern Luzon on Friday, July 10, and will head towards the southern island of Japan and the sea north of Taiwan on Friday, July 10, 2026.

It is estimated that Typhoon Inday will exit PAR on Saturday, July 11, and will make landfall on the eastern coast of mainland China on Sunday, July 12.
