Taguig City now has an aerial platform fire truck.
The city's first fire truck specifically designed for responding to emergencies in high-rise buildings was publicly unveiled on October 8, 2025, on Federacion Drive, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
This fire truck is designed to reach tall buildings and even crowded areas during disasters. It has modern capabilities to extinguish fires and can rescue people or pets from high places.
"The 'EAP71' aerial platform fire engine features a 70-meter articulating boom that can reach a height equivalent to a 20-22 story building. This is designed to reach confined areas, ensuring effective operations in modern city settings. With a lifting capacity of 500 kilograms, the platform can safely carry several rescuers and their equipment making it ideal for complex rescue and firefighting operations in high-rise communities," according to a statement from Taguig City on social media.
Instead of starting the engine of the fire truck, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and Congressman Jorge Bocobo turned on the emergency blinkers to symbolize the start of the natural fire truck's operation.
Cayetano stated that Taguig is one of the few local government units in the country that has this kind of modern rescue vehicle.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of preparedness, especially in the face of potential major disasters like a strong earthquake in Metro Manila, or "The Big One."
"I am very thankful to the taxpayers of Taguig. If not for their commitment, support, and faithful contribution to the city, this would not have been possible. Our dream and prayer is for this vehicle to be used properly and safely. We also pray for the team who will operate it - as the safety of every Taguigeño is important to us," said the Mayor.
Enrique Luis Manuel Jr., Chief Operating Officer of the Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation and Director of BGCEA, also expressed his gratitude for the ongoing support for the aim of ensuring the safety of BGC and Taguig as a whole.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) demonstrated how to use the fire truck and its high ladder for high-rise rescues.
