Nakba, which means catastrophe in English, refers to the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians during the 1948 Palestine war through violent displacement, takeover of their lands and properties, destruction of their society, and suppression of their culture, identity, and political and national rights. It is also now associated with the ongoing violence in Gaza.

According to the youth protesters, they were peacefully expressing their condemnation of the violence they claim is being perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people when the police and BGC marshals dispersed their demonstration.

A member of Anakbayan Taguig who was at the rally added that some of their youth participants were injured after allegedly being hit by the metal shields of the police who broke up their ranks.

The Taguig City Police, on the other hand, stated that the removal of the youth protesters was due to the illegality of their gathering, as the group did not have permission to congregate. They were, however, still permitted to hold their program in Katipunan.

Police Colonel Christopher Olazo, the chief of the Taguig City Police, assured that he would address the complaint of anyone who would file a case against those who injured the protesting youth.
