This was the announcement made by Vice President Sara Duterte during her press conference, which was livestreamed on her official social media page named Inday Sara Duterte, from the Office of the Vice President in Mandaluyong City, this February 18, 2026.
Duterte's early declaration of her intention to run for the nation's presidency in 2028 was accompanied by her criticism of the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
"Only in the first few months of our term, I have seen the lack of commitment from Bongbong Marcos Jr., to the promises made during the campaign, as well as to his sworn duty to the nation," Duterte stated.
Duterte also expressed her concern that the early declaration of her candidacy for 2028 is not being given proper attention.
"Politicians often avoid early disclosure of their plans to avoid becoming targets of attack, but this administration has long tarnished my name," said the Vice President.
Three new impeachment complaints have recently been filed against Duterte in the House of Representatives, following the Supreme Court's annulment of the 2025 articles of impeachments for violating a one-year embargo on consecutive filing of impeachment complaints based on the Constitution.
