Based on online monitoring and post-marketing surveillance of these food supplements, it was found that no Certificate of Product Registration (CPR) had been issued to them.
According to Republic Act No. 9711, or the "Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009", the manufacture, import, export, sale, offering for sale, distribution, use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without proper authorization is prohibited.
"Since these unregistered food supplements have not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety," the FDA cautioned.
The registration of a product with the FDA can be checked by visiting the FDA Verification Portal at https://verification.fda.gov.ph.
