Facebook account holders were unable to load posts and send messages on Messenger for 50 minutes.
Instagram was also affected by the outage, according to users.
Several Facebook account holders reported being logged out of their account and had to log back in.
Now, past 11:00 PM, the services of Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram have returned to normal.
Meta has yet to explain what caused the outage.
"When the servers crash, the system drops the digital keys that keep you logged in. This logs everyone out at the exact same time," according to Yahoo Finance.
