In gratitude for the abundant harvest, the local government of Taguig held a Melon Fest at the Melon Farm in Barangay Wawa on April 11, 2024.
"It's heartening to see that despite modern times, we still have traditions. These are part of our history that should not be forgotten, and rightly so," said Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, who led the celebration.
Over 60 melon farmers joined in the festivities, which saw performances of dance and music, as well as a communal meal or Filipino boodle feast.
"Through our celebration today, the knowledge of Taguigeños, especially the youth, of our rich culture and history deepens," Cayetano added.
