Following a checkpoint operation by the Taguig City Police, a tricycle passenger was discovered to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm in Barangay Santa Ana, Taguig City.

Personnel from the Taguig City Police Station Sub-Station 4 arrested a 22-year-old man, after he attempted to flee a regular checkpoint at the DMC Street corner of Bambang ni Peles at 11:05 pm on June 25, 2026, in the aforementioned barangay.

The man was found in possession of an unlicensed semi-automatic handgun and bullets.

According to the officers of Taguig Police, while they were verifying the license and documents of the tricycle driver, the passenger suddenly started shouting, challenging why they had been stopped by the police.

The officers shone their flashlight at the suspect to inspect him, at which point he unexpectedly jumped from the tricycle and allegedly even pushed one of the officers away.

The police chased after the suspect, during which a firearm fell from him.

The police managed to catch up with the suspect and promptly arrested him.

The firearm that fell from the suspect was an unlicensed Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm caliber pistol with a magazine and loaded with 8 bullets.

The suspect now faces charges for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or its Agents).
