The seven individuals had other medical conditions, such as heart attacks, brought about by raised blood pressure likely due to the extreme heat.

Seventy-seven people have been reported to have fallen ill due to the intense heat from January 1 to April 29, 2024, according to the Department of Health Event-Based Surveillance and Response System.

Sixty-seven of those who fell ill due to the heat are between the ages of 12 and 21.

Meanwhile, the entire Metro Manila is experiencing dangerous heat of 42 degrees Celsius today, May 7.

The hottest location today is Dagupan City, Pangasinan, which is at 46 degrees Celsius.
