The number of examinees this year has increased by 20% compared to last year, when 79,585 students took the exam. Only ten thousand will be chosen as scholars for 2024.

Currently, DOST-SEI is supporting about 40,000 scholars studying science and technology courses.

Those who pass the exam need to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in any priority field of science and technology in a state university or college or any private higher education institution recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence or Center of Development or has a Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines Level III accreditation for the degree program that a scholarship qualifier will enter.

The list of priority S&T programs can be found on the DOST-SEI website: www.sei.dost.gov.ph.

DOST-SEI continues to support its scholars by raising the monthly allowance of undergraduate scholars from P7,000 to P8,000 in 2024. Those pursuing a master's degree will now receive P30,000, up from the previous P25,000. PhD scholars now receive P38,000, up from the previous P33,000.

The successful candidates for the 2024 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarships will be announced in June or July of this year on the official DOST-SEI website, its social media page and in major newspapers.
