The FDA released the warning due to the increasing unauthorized endorsements of health products that may deceive consumers and potentially cause serious illness.

According to Republic Act Number 9711, also known as the "Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009," the production, importation, exportation, sale, distribution, promotion, advertising, and sponsorship of health products without proper authorization from the FDA are strictly prohibited.

Additionally, the FDA states that it is also illegal for any officials and employees of the agency to endorse any health products that are regulated by the agency.

To curb the spread of fake and erroneous endorsements and ensure public health is monitored, the FDA urges consumers to be cautious and not indiscriminately patronize products sold on social media platforms.
