The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is preparing Bicol Region, Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Metro Manila as these areas are directly in the path of Severe Tropical Storm Opong, which is expected to make landfall in the Bicol Region on Friday, September 26, 2025.

As of now, the following areas have been raised to Alert Level Charlie or Red alert, expecting heavy to intense rainfall accompanied by wind speeds reaching 130 kilometers per hour:

Meanwhile, the following areas are under Alert Level Bravo or Orange alert, also expecting heavy rainfall and wind speeds of 85 kilometers per hour:

Currently, Typhoon Opong is situated 670 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, according to PAGASA (at 4:00 PM, September 24, 2025).

The storm's wind speed is currently at 95 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching up to 115 kilometers per hour. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.

Wind Signal Number 2 has been raised in:

Northern Samar and the northern part of Eastern Samar (San Policarpo, Oras, Jipapad, Arteche).

Signal Number 1 has been raised in:
Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate. Also, in Samar, the remaining parts of Eastern Samar, Biliran, and the northern part of Leyte (Barugo, San Miguel, Babatngon, Tacloban City, Calubian, Leyte, Capoocan, Carigara, Palo).

Typhoon Opong may make landfall in the Bicol Region on Friday morning and cross over to Southern Luzon. It will continue to move in a west-northwest direction towards the West Philippine Sea and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday, September 27, 2025.
