The school expressed its sympathy and condolences to the family, as well as to the classmates and friends of the student who was found hanging from the fourth floor of the covered court.

"In such situations, unity, understanding, and the provision of appropriate support to each other are important in overcoming the heavy situation everyone is facing," the school said in a statement released on their Official Facebook Page.

"After the incident, immediate steps were taken to assist the students who witnessed or were affected by the event. They were moved to a separate and safe area within the school to be provided proper attention and support. The school's Guidance Advocate, school nurse, and other teachers immediately assisted in providing preliminary psychosocial support to the students," the school further added.

The administration of Captain Jose Cardones Integrated School clarified that they did not fall short in "implementing appropriate measures to ensure the safety and welfare of the students. The school has existing programs and mechanisms focused on mental health awareness, student welfare, and school safety that are continuously implemented to assist the students in their needs."

Among the things the school is doing to continually strengthen mental health programs, they said, are "classroom-based discussions about valuing life and coordination with parents, the barangay, and the police to further strengthen safety and support for students."

They also assured tighter coordination among school personnel to ensure proper supervision within the school.

An investigation is now being conducted by the authorities following the incident.
