This is in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 1006, declaring Chinese New Year as a special non-working holiday.

In line with this, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the expanded number coding in Metro Manila is also suspended.

Meanwhile, the Department of Labor, in their Labor Advisory No. 1 Series of 2026, stated that employees should be paid as follows:

* If an employee does not work during the special non-working holiday, they will not receive payment or "no work, no pay", unless the company's policy says otherwise
* For those who will work on this special day, the employer is required to pay an additional 30% of the basic wage for the first 8 hours of work (basic wage x 130%)
* If the employee works more than 8 hours, the employer must pay an additional 30% of the hourly rate for that day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 130% x 130% x number of hours worked)
* If the special day falls on an employee's rest day and they work, the employer must pay an additional 50% of the basic wage for the first eight hours of work (basic wage x 150%)
* If the employee works more than eight hours on this special day, which is also their rest day, the employer must pay an additional 30% per hour for that day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 150% x 130% number of hours worked).
