A male construction worker was impaled by a piece of protruding steel after falling from the ground floor to the basement of a building under construction in Barangay Upper Bicutan, Taguig City yesterday morning, April 1, 2024.

The steel rod pierced the lower left part of the victim's abdomen and exited through the upper right part of his chest.

It was learned that the man was working on the ground floor of the building under construction at A. Bonifacio corner Tangpuz St., Barangay Upper Bicutan, Taguig City around 11:30 in the morning when he fell into the basement level where the protruding steel was located.

The man fell approximately two meters and was immediately responded to by the Bureau of Fire Protection - Special Rescue Force (BFP - SRF) and Taguig Rescue.

The Barangay Upper Bicutan BDRRMO were first on the scene and promptly administered first aid to the victim.

At around 11:54 in the morning, the BFP - SRF arrived, assessed the situation and positioned themselves to extract the construction worker from the debris.

Despite the dangerous rescue, the BFP Taguig SRF, EMS Ambu-01, Taguig Rescue (TCDRRMO), and Barangay Upper Bicutan Rescue team successfully managed to lift the victim out of the wreckage after more than half an hour.

The construction worker was taken by Taguig Rescue (TCDRRMO) to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for treatment.
