From 3,000 yen, the price of a single-entry visa for foreigners to Japan will be rising to 15,000 yen starting from July 1, 2026.

This implies that from Php1,140, the visa for single entry will now cost Php5,700.

Those applying for a multi-entry visa will have to pay Php11,400 or 30,000 yen, up from the previous Php2,280 or 6,000 yen.

This is the first time in 48 years that Japan has increased its visa fee, with the last hike happening in 1978.

Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated that the visa fee change is due to rising inflation among other factors, and they do not anticipate it affecting tourism to their country.
