A moderate to strong eruption occurred at the Kanlaon Volcano last night, February 26, 2026, at 7:04 PM.

The eruption lasted for two minutes, emitting smoke that reached up to 2,500 meters above the volcano's mouth.
"Incandescent ballistics were observed to have rained around the crater while pyroclastic density currents or PDCs descended the eastern and southeastern upper slopes within 2 kilometers of the summit crater," the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in a statement.
This was followed by the continuous emission of ash.
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Phivolcs are studying whether there will be changes to the current Alert Level Status of the volcano.
At present, the Kanlaon Volcano is at Alert Level 2.
Meanwhile, the Mayon Volcano emitted smoke yesterday morning and is currently at Alert Level 3.
The Taal Volcano is at Alert Level 1.
