Yesterday, March 3, 2026, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Global Electric Transport Philippines (GET Philippines) signed an agreement for the implementation of the Electric Love Bus Program, which will provide free rides for passengers.
The signing of the memorandum of agreement at the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City was led by MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes and Global Electric Transport (GET) Philippines President Sigfrido Tinga.
The Electric Love Bus offers more than just free rides; it also provides a cleaner, quieter, and more modern mode of transportation, which may encourage some citizens to opt out of using personal vehicles.
Supporting the project to ensure it remains free for passengers include sponsors such as Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC), Megaworld Corporation, Ortigas Land, and International Solid Waste Integrated Management Specialist, Inc. (ISWIMS).
The MMDA will manage the routes, traffic arrangements, infrastructure assistance, and all public service-related matters, while GET Philippines will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electric buses.
"We will make public transport palatable, enjoyable, safe, and environmentally friendly for everyone. The MMDA has come in to support the Love Bus program and make sure it happens," according to Tinga.
The MMDA also plans to operate Love Bus services in other parts of Metro Manila.
