A minor and a shopper buying cigarettes were killed in a shooting incident that took place at Palingon-Tipas, Taguig around 6:30 pm on June 28, 2026.

A delivery person was injured when they were hit by a stray bullet.

Initial police investigation revealed that the target of the shooting was a 17-year-old boy, alias J, who was allegedly shot by a 16-year-old boy, alias T, due to a misunderstanding.

The police are exploring the possibility that the altercation was drug-related.

Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano expressed concern and sadness over the incident, especially since it has involved minors who may be used in activities related to illegal drugs.

The mayor stated that this incident should serve as a wake-up call for families and communities to work together to keep children away from illegal drugs and criminal activities.

"It is deeply troubling that our young people may be used or lured into illegal drugs and violence. No child should be put in such a situation. They should be in school, with their families, being guided towards a bright future, not becoming part of a crime. We will continue to strengthen our programs to keep our youth away from drugs, violence, and other harmful influences. At the same time, we will continue to cooperate with our law enforcement agencies to hold those responsible accountable and keep our communities safe," the mayor declared.

The police are currently searching for the minor suspect and are also seeking the cooperation of the suspect's parents.

Meanwhile, a group called Palingon-Tipas HOOD is calling for peace in their area.

"No one should live in fear. For the future of our youth and for the safety of everyone, it's time to choose peace. Enough is enough. Let's put an end to the violence in our area," they posted on social media.
