National Flag Days are being celebrated in the country from May 28 to June 12, 2026.
Each year, the celebration begins on May 28 to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Alapan (Imus, Cavite) in 1898 where the Philippine Revolutionary Army, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, triumphed over Spanish soldiers.
Following the victory in battle, it was also the first time Aguinaldo unfurled the Philippine flag at the Teatro Caviteño in Cavite Nuevo or Cavite City, in front of Filipino revolutionaries, over 270 captured Spanish soldiers, and a group of American sailors from the US Asiatic Squadron.
In celebration of the National Flag Days, the Tourism and Trade Office of Taguig City has already placed Philippine flags in various areas around the city, particularly at the Taguig City Hall.
The flag symbolizes patriotism, unity, and respect for the country's history and freedom.
"Through this initiative, we aim to remind every Taguigeño of the courage and sacrifices of our Filipino heroes who fought for the country's independence," according to the Taguig Tourism and Trade Office.
