To qualify, members must have made 36 monthly contributions to SSS, with the last six of these contributions having been posted within the past 12 months before they apply for a calamity loan.

Applicants must also reside or live in a declared calamity area, be no older than 65 at the time of application, have no final benefit claim with SSS such as permanent total disability or retirement, owe no debt to SSS in the form of a short-term member loan, and have no outstanding calamity loan or restructured loan.

Once approved, the loan will be credited to the member's registered Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID)-ATM card or their active account with a Philippine Electronic Fund Transfer System and Operations Network (PESONet) participating bank.

SSS will also be conducting a webinar about calamity loans on July 31, 2024.
