The celebration was led by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and the youth of Taguig, represented by members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
"May the remembrance of his legacy guide our continuous appreciation for the freedom we are enjoying, especially among our youth. In Taguig City, we persistently push for strong support in enhancing and developing the talents and skills of the youth in various fields, most notably in education - a cause greatly valued by our hero, Rizal," the mayor said in a statement on her social media account.
Cayetano stated that she expects everyone - young and old - to uphold Rizal's teachings related to integrity, valuing education and personal development for the nation.
