The surviving hostages have been returned to their families.

The remains of 28 hostages are still in Gaza, but will also be returned to their families under the ceasefire agreement led by the United States.

Part of the agreement includes the release of 250 long-time Palestinian prisoners from Israel, and the release of 1,700 Palestinian detainees from Gaza who were imprisoned by Israel without charges since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
