Two individuals have severed ties with a group allegedly linked with the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army - National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), and have pledged their loyalty to the government.

The two are reported to have been members of the Allegiance of Filipino Workers (AFW), a labor union, recognized by the police as encouraging citizens to resist the government and supporting Communist ideologies.

It was also learned that the two were involved in recruiting new members for their organization and participating in widespread protest actions allegedly organized by the Communist group.

The two formally pledged their allegiance to the government at the Taguig City Police Station located on 9th Avenue corner of 40th Street Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City on May 1, 2024, at exactly 11:00 in the morning.

The police, led by Police Major Glen Lyca Gevero, assisted the two surrenderers in arranging their reintegration with the government.
