The city government of Taguig is working on a solution to the water supply disconnection at Palar Village, which is part of two barangays - Southside and Pinagsama - in Taguig City.

In a statement made by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano at the San Vicente Ferrer Parish Church in Palar Village, Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City on May 5, 2024, she announced that Manila Water and Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) have agreed to install water meters for the first 200 houses near the water source.

"Through the appeal of the local government of Taguig, BCDA and Manila Water have agreed to our request that the initial 200 houses nearest to the main water source will begin the process of individual metering," said Cayetano.

"When individual metering occurs, the control of the water supply will no longer be in the hands of a few groups or families because it will directly go to our fellow citizens," Cayetano added.

Cayetano further stated that the problem of the water supply disconnection in Palar Village was due to the failure of the water supplier to pay Manila Water its debt of P5 million.

Taguig.com reporter Jayson Pulga found that the water supply in Palar Village is controlled by the Inner Port Neighborhood Association.

In an interview with the residents of Palar, they revealed that they pay P67.00 per cubic meter for water and their payments are up to date. They started suffering from water scarcity since last week.

One member of Taguig.com Group pleaded that they only need a water supply for two to three hours to accumulate enough.

Currently, their water supply is only provided by the firefighters of the Bureau of Fire Protection of Taguig City.
